Ital-Shades has long been recognized for delivering some of the most innovative and boundary-pushing solutions in the retractable awning industry. With the Madera Giant, the company continues that tradition, setting a new benchmark for size, performance, and durability.

As its name suggests, Madera Giant is the largest lateral arm retractable awning currently available in the U.S. market, offering an extraordinary 20-foot projection. This unmatched reach redefines what is possible in outdoor shading and is designed to serve high-demand commercial and residential applications.

Despite its massive scale, Madera Giant maintains the refined aesthetic and elegant lines that Ital-Shades is known for. It features a double square bar system and extra heavy-duty arms, providing the same operational versatility as classic retractable models but with superior structural strength.

Standard installation includes two brackets per arm (13 inches high) and an additional center bracket to align and support the dual back square bars. While shorter projections, such as 15 or 16 feet, can be mounted to standard siding with a reinforced installation board, reinforced concrete or cinder block walls are strongly recommended for full 20-foot extensions.

Thanks to its exceptional build quality, minimal front clearance is needed even at maximum projection, for example, just 2 feet of clearance for a 20-foot extension, making it an ideal choice for large patios, terraces, or commercial fronts.

Madera Giant comes in a white powder-coated aluminum frame with stainless steel hardware and chained elbows for superior durability. Custom frame colors are also available upon request to suit your architectural needs.

⚠️ CAUTIONARY AND IMPORTANT OPERATING INFORMATION

Retractable awnings contain strong springs that are under constant tension. They are specifically designed to provide sun protection and should be retracted during inclement weather.

These systems are not intended to withstand high winds, heavy rain, or snow. To avoid potential damage not covered by the warranty, awnings must be fully retracted during unfavorable weather conditions. Proper operation and care will help ensure long-term performance and safety.

Product Highlights

Each Giant arm is connected to the awning’s front bar through a specially engineered joint. This allows for smooth, precise rotation of the arm around its front pin, ensuring consistent operation and minimal stress during extension and retraction.
Due to the high tension required for its oversized projections, Madera Giant is equipped with a cradle center support. This addition helps maintain perfect fabric alignment along the rolling tube, even under continuous tension and use.
Each Madera Giant includes five installation brackets for optimal support. There are two brackets per arm and a central bracket that stabilizes the double square bar system and ensures a secure mount, especially under heavier load conditions.
When fully retracted, the Madera Giant sits just a few inches from the wall, preserving the compact and elegant profile of a classic lateral arm awning despite its impressive size and strength.
To manage the extreme spring tension of its oversized arms, every Madera Giant elbow is equipped with a stainless steel chain. This component enhances durability and allows the system to operate safely and efficiently under heavy loads.
The front bar of the Giant model is designed not only for style but also as a reinforced stabilizer. It provides added resistance against wind while maintaining the clean, elegant appearance that defines the Ital-Shades aesthetic.

Hood & Sides

All Ital-Shades awnings are available with an optional hood and matching hood ends. The hood serves as an aluminum cover that protects the awning from rain and snow when fully retracted. Hood ends can also be added to complete the enclosure, enhancing both protection and the overall appearance.

Adjustable Valance

Ital-Shades’ Drop-Down Valance is a front valance system designed to provide adjustable sun protection on demand. It is compatible with nearly all Ital-Shades retractable lateral arm awnings.

This secondary valance is positioned behind the standard valance and housed within a unique front cassette that replaces the regular awning front bar. It can be rolled up or down by simply operating a small gear located at one end of the cassette.

The Drop-Down Valance is available in a 4-foot height and a maximum width of 24 feet. It can be made using the same fabric as the awning for color coordination or with a sunscreen mesh in black, cream, gray, or brown.

Rain and Wind Stabilizers Legs Kit

With its exclusive front-leg system, Ital-Shades provides an effective solution for wind and rain loads on nearly all its lateral arm models, excluding the Nova.

These hardware-free stabilizers feature reversible ends for easy, error-proof installation. Their top and bottom joints flex toward the awning’s closing direction, preserving flexibility while neutralizing the effects of wind and rain.

Warning: Legs must be removed before closing awnings.

Roof Bracket

Roof installation is recommended when there is insufficient clearance or when swing doors, drains, or gutters obstruct a standard wall installation. One roof bracket is required for each regular wall bracket.

Each roof bracket features an adjustable hinge system that replicates a virtual wall position along the roofline. All Ital-Shades roof brackets are available in the same color as the selected awning frame for a seamless and coordinated appearance.

The Eolis 3D WireFreeTM RTS Wind Sensor is a wireless, battery powered wind sensor that will automatically retract an awning based on wind generated movements even when you are away. Battery powered, has an indicator to alert you when the battery needs to be replaced.
Ondeis is a solar-powered combined rain and sun sensor compatible with Radio Technology Somfy® motorized exterior products, including awnings, and screens. The Sensor is completely wireless and uses optical rain-sensing technology to measure rainfall and sends an RTS command when rainfall exceeds the user-selected threshold. The Sensor also utilizes a sun- level sensor that sends an RTS command when sunlight exceeds the user-selected threshold.

With specific reference to their way to be connected to the power source, both motors can be selected as:

Standard Power Solution (hard-wired and controlled by a classical wall switch)

RTS Solution (with plug wire and controlled by a remote transmitter)

The Smoover RTS surface mounted wall switch avoids cutting into drywall. This single channel, battery-operated solution is easy to install and does not require an electrician. Available with 7 decorative color frames , users can easily complement any decor.
